JCA History & Mission
Formerly the National Conference for Community and Justice of
Arkansas, Just Communities of Arkansas (JCA) works to embrace diversity in the community and establish a place where
every person is valued, every voice is heard, and everyone has a fair
chance to succeed.
Advancing Diversity in the Community:
Just Communities of Arkansas builds bridges. Not physical bridges,
but bridges between people who make up our community. We advance
diversity in the community, challenge the assumptions we often make about people whose
lives and backgrounds are different from our own, and promote
understanding and respect through educational programs and advocacy.
Built on the conviction that honest, forthright conversation is the
cornerstone of a just and democratic society, JCA
views open dialogue as a crucial step toward breaking down the barriers
that separate individuals, communities and nations. We have dedicated
ourselves to our mission of building stronger communities, facilitating
inter-group understanding, and enhancing workplace diversity and
training the next generation through programs for adults and youth in Little Rock neighborhoods. JCA diversity workshops and programs are designed to break down stereotypes and promote understanding and respect among all people.
In addition to youth and adult programming,
we have events that recognize good work that is done both in Little Rock neighborhoods and throughout Arkansas,
giving us cause to celebrate openness, spirit and diversity in the community. Learn more about our Annual Humanitarian Award Dinner, our Gathering of Friends event and our Walk for CommUNITY.
