Humanitarian Awards Dinner

Take me to information about Gathering of Friends and Walk for CommUNITY.

On Tuesday, February 28, 2012, JCA hosted a sellout crowd for our 49th Annual Humanitarian Awards Dinner in the Peabody Hotel's Grand Ballroom. We had the privilege of honoring Dr. Fitz Hill, Dr. Eddie Ochoa, and Stacy Sells. Presiding over this very special event was Dinner Chair Marla Johnson Norris.  Thoughtful, warm remarks and celebration of the many contributions that these three very special Arkansans have made to our state were the order of the evening.

The Humanitarian Awards Dinner is JCA's signature gala, bringing together friends old and new, past honorees, and supporters of our mission to build communities where every person is valued, every voice is heard and everyone has a fair chance to succeed.  This year's event delivered a few special touches - a serenade of our honorees by the wonderfully talented Lawrence Hamilton, and the "world premiere" of a video showcasing a number of perspectives on JCA's mission and work, generously provided by our very good friends at Aristotle.  And not to be outdone, for the second year in a row, our friends at Legacy Termite and Pest Control stepped up with a $5,000 match for money raised for Ourtown for Teens, JCA's premier youth leadership program for high school students.  What a night!

Thank you to all who were on hand to continue this long-standing JCA tradition of honoring those who have dedicated their lives and work to advancing opportunities for all Arkansans.

A special thanks to Tipton-Hurst for the lovely centerpieces! You always make our Dinner look fantastic.

Since 1963, JCA has presented Humanitarian Awards annually to one or more people at our Humanitarian Awards Dinner. These awards honor individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to the promotion of respect and understanding among people of diverse racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds. These honorees have promoted justice and inclusion through their work and community service. In addition to honoring outstanding community members, the Humanitarian Awards Dinner also serves as a platform to highlight the mission, programs and continued success of JCA.
